Hello dear Aion developers, assistants, players and all people who take part in this great project
After visiting ted.com, I got idea and as this says – ideas worth spreading.
I'm user of Aion game and I want to tell you the issue, which I’m facing. English is not my main language, so I'm suing Google translate in some case, please, try to understand me. Important: I’m not agent of any company, I’m not interested in money (or some kind of rewarding), I’m average man. So the thought, I'm going to tell is very wide and difficult, but it contains of simple things.
First, I'm old Aion player, have 3 years of experience. I tried different servers (retail and private), all classes, skills, tactics , all maps, PvP and PvE areas, all social aspects, etc. At the moment I left playing by the several reasons, which I’ll tell below.
Second, I make the conclusion - the game is not what i want, but what I don’t want. Now I'll explain. Look this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4LmPqnW3pM (Aion Live Action Trailer) and tell me what is it about ? It is about another world, not about game ( like WoW – just a game ). And when you enter Aion, you just see the common game ( like Wow). What I'm trying to say, it's time now, for qualitative changes, mean, make it (Aion) like the another world, not the another game.
Third: how I see this changes ? To understand me, let’s note few basic simple facts, thinks:
1) When you going to market, do you buying the products you like or not like/ need ? Do you making choice between them ?
The products you like/need. Yes, you making choice.
2) Do you paying for them from the budget you can pay or want pay ? How much you paying for the bred and water ? Do you buying this every day ? Do you choosing the price ?
From what you can to what you want. From how much you need to how much you want. All up to your wallet, cash.
3) Do this questions have any connections with Aion ?
Yes they have.
4) How ?
Look now !
I make a comparison - Aion with products, because we playing game every day ( like bred and water), we playing it, because we like/need it, and we paying for it in different ways !
About which qualitative changes I’m talking here ?!
To explain this, I need to start from beginning, From time I start to play Aion. When I just entered the game, I felt like I entered another world. The amazing graphic effects, awesome world, one of the best gameplay ever made, epic PvP, wonderful PvE ( spectacular dungeons, dramatic bosses), wide social community and a lot more interesting, new , exciting things, makes me feel like it’s my life, my choice, my game. I got the enjoyment from game, the fun, the pleasure. I was not only ready, I WAS WANT, to pay for this, to pay for what I like to do, what I need, pay for play !
But all this, went opposite way at the finish, when I left the game. Even when the gameplay and graphic were same ( even better with each update), the enjoyment left me. WHY !? BECAUSE OF : slow leveling ( if I have few characters ? ), infinity mobs killing (to level up or getting needed item), 100 times replayed same dungeons ( mostly for leveling), hours of waiting for important classes ( to complete some quests, dungeons ), not balanced PvP vs several classes ( nerfed skills, that can be easy changed) and most awful ENCHANTING SYSTEM with 90% fail ( Enchantment stones, Tempering solution, Breakthrough System(?)), and other issues (everybody know them in game). ( I’m not note Manastones system, because it’s important and wise thought , must be option in this game.) Do we really play just for enchantment ? Upgrading items is must be option, we can’t even kill mobs without it ! AND ?! We have to pay if we want enchant ! Because it’s almost impossible to make all enchantment to maximum level, without spending some real money for it or spending few years of playing ? IS IT CHOICE ? Do we want this ? NO, NEVER !
So now I come to the issue I star above - need changes ! Qualitative changes! And I have offer !
All we know, that thousand people working on that game, the think I’m telling is not new. With each update game getting better and better, but with each update we more, and more must play it to get what we need ( remember from what you getting fun – epic PvP, PvE or epic enchantment system ? ). Looks like developers not see what we really want, why do we choose this game. Making us to play – with whip. But when we join this world – it were bred and water for us ?! Making us eat and drink ? I can do it myself, but I don’t want bad food or stinking water ! CHANGE IT ?!
There are a lot of ways to make changes. I have my own variants, which you can use, admit, note, share in your development process . I believe a lot of veteran players have this offers (making poll – is easy in game, to help you).
Just for example (not all this ideas is useful) :
- Currency.
Making currency (kinah) in game work useful for user/player and developer. Mean, let us buy Kinah with really money and use them in game, by buying with them important must be thinks (other way just farm kinah, by the long, slow process, so it will be still FREE-TO-PLAY game ). All we understand, that we must pay something, to keep the project alive, to make game upgrading. So it’s better when we will pay for what we need and when we want and spend them in game how we want (to our CHOICE). It’s not hard for me, if I will pay 10-20$/ month for thing I like to do. When you buy icecream – you spend money ? Why ? You like it ? Me too ! When the veterans and new players will buy Kinah by real money and spend them in game for what they need, but the things they need are useful and must be (bred and water), the other think will be easy to get without spending hours of farming and crafting. Like I said up there, I’m average man and I don’t have much to play in a day (only couple hours or less), but it will be profitably for me to spend some money, to get what I need and keep getting joy from game, without be nervous by the enchanting and leveling (and other terrible things). And it will be profitable for developers too, because if there are a lot ( and there are) of average people, who ready to spend not much money per week/month to get what they like, example - 10$ x10 000 player = good income for game. And it looks, for me, much bigger income, then from different time, from different players , with different amount . It’s permanent income ! I’ll repeat, it’s just idea, thought, so it’s easy to change it, make it right with help of people who need this – users.
- Leveling.
There are nothing to talk much about it. Making some dungeons many times make it boring, killing same mobs make it tired. Speed up the leveling process, just example is illegitimate servers with x2, x10, x100 rate of leveling. Somebody like to leveling and opening character which is playing, not when u doing it month or more.
- Skills.
Game is very divided to classes, without several of them you can’t process in game progress. Make it change. Need to balance it. Add new skills that allow different classes use different items to assist each other. Brutal example: make a stuff useful for all classes, which allow to use healing skills (not like main Heal (Cleric, Chanter) for sure) to support each other or in group (mean, only healing skills allowed, maybe with stigma system, that will not allow to fights, so it will be balanced, no need to break the PvP system). I’ll repeat one more, it’s just not perfect idea , thought.
- Dungeon/Instance.
Make the game more wide by making the old zones – new. Mean, you can enter the low level dungeon again with the level you are. And open the new level of hardness for example.
- Enchanting system.
As I already said it before, change it, deeply change it! Let the upgrading be easy and available for all player (new or veteran). Make it something like Manastone system – allow to upgrade several option which will give several stats. So the PvP and PvE will be even more wonderful. It will be up to player what he want in game and buy it with kinah ( and farm or buy kinah by real money).
- Expand game borders.
Housing is a great option that allow people to not play Sims anymore, develop it. Add new classes, new zones, new instance, items, new option ( how about race on mounts, like NFS ? ) The game is very social, but there are place to develop it too (example : make the dancing moves with skills, so players will dance, making new moves themselves). Group PvP is cool. How about strategy PvP, alliance vs alliance, where will be needed tactic thinking. And much more and more.
And as you know now, a lot of veteran or just started players – leaving the game. Trying to hold them by typical updates where you MUST enchant more and more will not help. A lot people selling their accounts, because when they rich some point in game there is no more point to play the game. Sure there are a lot of players, but can be much more. Don’t hold people, give them freedom and they will come themselves.
For me, it even looks easy to push out WoW from the market, so people will come to play here but need qualitative changes to make it. Imagine income, company growth, developing technologies. Who know, in near future we will play Aion in 3D glasses. Sure all this is a question of time and just my opinion, but I hope it will make a little spark in your heads, that will CHANGE all the wrong things. And all this, the information, the help, the opportunity you can get right from the game, from people, just poll them, asking them what they want and they will pay for it. And it is both side advantage, profit.
There I’ll back to play this game, this world, this life. There we will get what we want, where we want and when we want. PvP or PvE or social, doesn’t matter, important - to have joy, make own choice.

I make a comparison - Aion with products, because we playing game every day ( like bred and water), we playing it, because we like/need it, and we paying for it in different ways !
About which qualitative changes I’m talking here ?!
To explain this, I need to start from beginning, From time I start to play Aion. When I just entered the game, I felt like I entered another world. The amazing graphic effects, awesome world, one of the best gameplay ever made, epic PvP, wonderful PvE ( spectacular dungeons, dramatic bosses), wide social community and a lot more interesting, new , exciting things, makes me feel like it’s my life, my choice, my game. I got the enjoyment from game, the fun, the pleasure. I was not only ready, I WAS WANT, to pay for this, to pay for what I like to do, what I need, pay for play !
But all this, went opposite way at the finish, when I left the game. Even when the gameplay and graphic were same ( even better with each update), the enjoyment left me. WHY !? BECAUSE OF : slow leveling ( if I have few characters ? ), infinity mobs killing (to level up or getting needed item), 100 times replayed same dungeons ( mostly for leveling), hours of waiting for important classes ( to complete some quests, dungeons ), not balanced PvP vs several classes ( nerfed skills, that can be easy changed) and most awful ENCHANTING SYSTEM with 90% fail ( Enchantment stones, Tempering solution, Breakthrough System(?)), and other issues (everybody know them in game). ( I’m not note Manastones system, because it’s important and wise thought , must be option in this game.) Do we really play just for enchantment ? Upgrading items is must be option, we can’t even kill mobs without it ! AND ?! We have to pay if we want enchant ! Because it’s almost impossible to make all enchantment to maximum level, without spending some real money for it or spending few years of playing ? IS IT CHOICE ? Do we want this ? NO, NEVER !
So now I come to the issue I star above - need changes ! Qualitative changes! And I have offer !
All we know, that thousand people working on that game, the think I’m telling is not new. With each update game getting better and better, but with each update we more, and more must play it to get what we need ( remember from what you getting fun – epic PvP, PvE or epic enchantment system ? ). Looks like developers not see what we really want, why do we choose this game. Making us to play – with whip. But when we join this world – it were bred and water for us ?! Making us eat and drink ? I can do it myself, but I don’t want bad food or stinking water ! CHANGE IT ?!
There are a lot of ways to make changes. I have my own variants, which you can use, admit, note, share in your development process . I believe a lot of veteran players have this offers (making poll – is easy in game, to help you).
Just for example (not all this ideas is useful) :
- Currency.
Making currency (kinah) in game work useful for user/player and developer. Mean, let us buy Kinah with really money and use them in game, by buying with them important must be thinks (other way just farm kinah, by the long, slow process, so it will be still FREE-TO-PLAY game ). All we understand, that we must pay something, to keep the project alive, to make game upgrading. So it’s better when we will pay for what we need and when we want and spend them in game how we want (to our CHOICE). It’s not hard for me, if I will pay 10-20$/ month for thing I like to do. When you buy icecream – you spend money ? Why ? You like it ? Me too ! When the veterans and new players will buy Kinah by real money and spend them in game for what they need, but the things they need are useful and must be (bred and water), the other think will be easy to get without spending hours of farming and crafting. Like I said up there, I’m average man and I don’t have much to play in a day (only couple hours or less), but it will be profitably for me to spend some money, to get what I need and keep getting joy from game, without be nervous by the enchanting and leveling (and other terrible things). And it will be profitable for developers too, because if there are a lot ( and there are) of average people, who ready to spend not much money per week/month to get what they like, example - 10$ x10 000 player = good income for game. And it looks, for me, much bigger income, then from different time, from different players , with different amount . It’s permanent income ! I’ll repeat, it’s just idea, thought, so it’s easy to change it, make it right with help of people who need this – users.
- Leveling.
There are nothing to talk much about it. Making some dungeons many times make it boring, killing same mobs make it tired. Speed up the leveling process, just example is illegitimate servers with x2, x10, x100 rate of leveling. Somebody like to leveling and opening character which is playing, not when u doing it month or more.
- Skills.
Game is very divided to classes, without several of them you can’t process in game progress. Make it change. Need to balance it. Add new skills that allow different classes use different items to assist each other. Brutal example: make a stuff useful for all classes, which allow to use healing skills (not like main Heal (Cleric, Chanter) for sure) to support each other or in group (mean, only healing skills allowed, maybe with stigma system, that will not allow to fights, so it will be balanced, no need to break the PvP system). I’ll repeat one more, it’s just not perfect idea , thought.
- Dungeon/Instance.
Make the game more wide by making the old zones – new. Mean, you can enter the low level dungeon again with the level you are. And open the new level of hardness for example.
- Enchanting system.
As I already said it before, change it, deeply change it! Let the upgrading be easy and available for all player (new or veteran). Make it something like Manastone system – allow to upgrade several option which will give several stats. So the PvP and PvE will be even more wonderful. It will be up to player what he want in game and buy it with kinah ( and farm or buy kinah by real money).
- Expand game borders.
Housing is a great option that allow people to not play Sims anymore, develop it. Add new classes, new zones, new instance, items, new option ( how about race on mounts, like NFS ? ) The game is very social, but there are place to develop it too (example : make the dancing moves with skills, so players will dance, making new moves themselves). Group PvP is cool. How about strategy PvP, alliance vs alliance, where will be needed tactic thinking. And much more and more.
And as you know now, a lot of veteran or just started players – leaving the game. Trying to hold them by typical updates where you MUST enchant more and more will not help. A lot people selling their accounts, because when they rich some point in game there is no more point to play the game. Sure there are a lot of players, but can be much more. Don’t hold people, give them freedom and they will come themselves.
For me, it even looks easy to push out WoW from the market, so people will come to play here but need qualitative changes to make it. Imagine income, company growth, developing technologies. Who know, in near future we will play Aion in 3D glasses. Sure all this is a question of time and just my opinion, but I hope it will make a little spark in your heads, that will CHANGE all the wrong things. And all this, the information, the help, the opportunity you can get right from the game, from people, just poll them, asking them what they want and they will pay for it. And it is both side advantage, profit.
There I’ll back to play this game, this world, this life. There we will get what we want, where we want and when we want. PvP or PvE or social, doesn’t matter, important - to have joy, make own choice.
